Sándor’s Oregon Trail: Pendleton To Dalles

Traveled the Oregon Trail from Pendleton to The Dalles (Oregon) as part of a tour put on by the Oregon California Trails Association just before their national convention in Oregon City. Got to walk in wagon ruts still well-preserved on the prairie.

Here is the link to the trip on EveryTrail where you can see GPS map and zoom in to any section you’d like. You can click any of the pins to see the pictures right on the map. For the more adventurous, you can also download the EveryTrail app for iPhone or Android and you can see the map on your phone or tablet and it will show you your own location on the map relative to the trail and to photographs sites.

I put this together on the fly on the trail with phone camera pics and will add additional pictures from my DSLR camera and correct some orthographic issues as time allows. My goal here is to have a mapped route with indicators for people to find locations and experience themselves.
This was a car trip with brief jaunts on foot and the map lines will probably make it clear which parts were walking and which driving. Tour was organized by Rich Herman and Roger Blair who wrote an excellent guide for the tour that I am happy to share on request. Happy trails and wagons ho!
